Enjoyed a pint of the Allgates Celtic Pale yesterday 17/04/11.
An Extra Pale Ale; brewed almost exclusively with Lager Malt and with the American, Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops providing wonderful citrus and floral notes.
Above is from brewery website. Floral nose and pallete far more apparent than the citrus which is only really present as a slightly dry finish. A pleasant change to the much sharper Nottingham EPA. The Bass was also pristine. - Neil Rowe.
Had a great time on Sunday nights, Brook looked after us.
Two of my favourate ales are Brew Dog Brewery; Trashy Blonde (had at the London Drinker '09) and Derventio Brewery; Cleopatra (had at the LE 1st beer festival) Please get these again soon, so I can try again. - Kevin Thompson (not the landlord).
Only just started drinking here, and I didn't know what I was missing! A proper old fashioned pub with an excellent selection of well kept ales, and really nice barstaff as a bonus. - Alex Martin.
"Fantastic service from the most friendly member of bar staff( brooke ) nothing was to much trouble for her; thank you for a very plesant and welcoming night a return visit is a 100% mustsee you all soon" - Mike Williams.
"Called in one the way back from a rugby match. Whar a little gem of a pub. The beer clarity was exceptional. All of the beers on sale were in wonderful condition. We will all definitely be back" - Mike Devlin.
"Nice to see the positive comments on here , the best little pub around and by far the best beer :) , was drinking 'village idiot' the other night and like all your ales it was superb !! :)" - Paul.
"Enjoyed the quiz night very much(although thought it was a fix cuz we didn't win) Friendly crowd nice beer especially the bottle of vintage Manns"

"A fine choice of ales at The Hole In The Wall this week, Wednesday 08/12/10.
Naked Brewer Blush 4.5% a darkish brown bitter with a warm red glow.
Thomas Guest Puddlers 4.1% a light creamy bitter with initial fruit malt and a mellow dry bitterness to finish.
Black Country Ales BFG 4.2% a straw coloured beer with a citrus hop aroma, a fruity sweetness with a clean fresh after-taste.
Also, as usual, top quality Bass and Nottingham EPA.
And, in addition, a new cider from Broadoak. Bristol Port Cider 7.5%.
If that’s not enough, Mulled wine and speciality coffees are also available.
A wide range of quality beverages to cater for all tastes."
"Excellent quality Bishops Farewell yesterday 13/01/11. Full on hoppiness, with depth of flavour too. Treat your taste buds to this multi award winning beer served to perfection" - Neil.
"Visited this pub on 15 jan on our way to notts forest was afforded a fantastic welcome by the landlord his wife and daughter the real ales and the scrumpy cider were all in excellent condition and if one happened to to run out it was quickly replaced my another of excellent quality the cobbs or rolls as us southerners like to call them were excellent as well all round an excellent pub and would recomend it to anyone who is in the area. once again thanks for the great welcome" - Paul.
"Great ales, always well-kept. White Dwarf superb. If you haven't visited the Hole in The Wall before, it's well worth tracking it down especially if you like a proper, traditional English pub" - Steve.
"Great beer, especially the BFG from Black Country Brewery, and excellent atmosphere both staff and customers. Would recommend anytime...." - Richard.
"I enjoyed an excellent pint of Leatherbritches Ashbourne IPA in this fine pub with its friendly staff a couple of weeks ago. Very well kept, it's an amber coloured ale with plenty of hops and malt on the finish. Recommended." - Richard.
The Hole in the wall used to be a bass tied house, this pub is up a side street and close to the market place. When you go into this pub the bar is on the right and the lounge is up a few steps to the left,if your in the lounge the bar counter looks very low as this room is higher than the bar,we tend to go in the bar which has stools and bench seating making it fairly comfortable there is also a pool table at the back of this small room. There is a good choice of beers on the bar with about 5 real ales a couple of these wll be locale beers from Nottingham brewery or Castle Rock and there will be some other micro brewery beers on there is also Bass on the bar,the last time we were in here we had a drink of Nottingham Rock bitter which was very nice. This pub is one of the better options for real ale in Long Eaton and we dont mind having a couple of drinks here" - Alan.
"The Hole in the wall as got to be the best pub in town.Great beers always on offer. The Hole is also home to a talented pool team always chasing high league positions, ladies darts team, domino team and a very friendly skittles team. The hole runs a quiz night every other tuesday" - Bert.
"OK, its not the fanciest or most modern pub in Long Eaton, but I guarantee it's the cleanest and probably most comfortable. It's also won more beer awards than you can shake a stick at. This pub has an ever-changing menu of local beers at reasonable prices. The owner takes huge pride in his beers. I've seen him take back half-drunk pints and refilled them because he didn't like the clarity after the beer had settled. It's very friendly and serves great cobs at lunchtimes. It's like a time machine - you go in for a quick drink at 1 pm, like it so much that when you walk outside its four hours later" - Helen.
"Just like to say that I have found your pub to be always friendly and helpful.
Lovely cobs and of course the wonderful Notts Extra Pale Ale.
My regards to one and all especially George the dog!" - Mick.
